600 DRONES “DRAW” THE LIFE OF THE FAMOUS VAN GOGH IN THE NIGHT SKY

The life of the famous artist Van Gogh was told uniquely by the performance of 600 UAV devices in nearly 30 minutes.

According to CNN, Van Gogh’s famous “Starry Night” has been shown on posters, coffee cups, and bicycle paths. But this is the first time the painting has been depicted against the night sky.

Impressive performance of 600 UAVs

That feat was thanks to the help of 600 drones. It is worth mentioning that this Guinness World Record-setting performance does not just recreate a single painting but instead tells a magnificent story about the Dutch painter’s life and his most famous works.

EFYI Group, a Chinese drone manufacturing company, in collaboration with Tianjin University, has set a Guinness World Record for the most extended animated performance of an uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV), with a time of 26 minutes and 19 seconds.

“Animation is a way to tell a story, to say what you want to say,” Ms. Zhang Siqi, CEO of EFYI Group, told Guinness.

In the performance taking place in Tianjin (China), drones together told the story of painter Van Gogh’s life, using movement and light to create his most famous works from “Wheat Field with Cypress,” “Autumn Mulberry Tree” or the series of paintings “Sunflowers” and “Starry Night.”

Ms. Zhang said that animations created with drones are complicated to make. “Previous UAV demonstrations only involved making one picture. This was making a long, technically and creatively animated film, a difficult challenge for the whole team.”

Zhao Shilei, Product Manager of EFYI Group, said that to create drone images, EFYI Group used high-precision positioning and synchronization technology to achieve “coordinated action.”

All 600 drones are of the same Agile Bee II model, weighing about 1.5kg and flying at a speed of over 30km/h.

SAFETY SOLUTIONS AND COMPETITION OF DESTRUCTION FROM ILLEGAL WAVE-BREAKING DEVICES

In mid-2023, thousands of drones at a light show in China suddenly landed simultaneously during the performance. Although no information about damage has been recorded when the devices are programmed with a landing mechanism at a safe speed, the incident has greatly affected the overall performance program. The cause is believed to come from radio
