CHINESE PUBLISHER USES DRONE AS QR CODE TO DOWNLOAD PRINCESS CONNECT! RE:DIVE

Instead of spending money to advertise through social networking platforms, a game distributor in China went big by using up to 1,500 drones to promote his mobile game release, lighting up the night sky of the Bund.

Thousands of drones performed uniquely in the sky of Shanghai city, after NPH Bilibili used them to form a giant QR code. Notably, this QR code was not created just for fun. Instead, users can use their smartphone to scan the QR code in the sky to download Princess Connect! Re:Dive – a mobile game released by Bilibili in the Chinese market.

Besides QR codes, thousands of these drones are programmed to compose many different images and messages, such as characters in Princess Connect! Re:Dive, or scenes of characters fighting monsters in the game.

It is known that Bilibili organized this drone show to celebrate the first anniversary of the launch of Princess Connect! Re in the mainland market. Many people play Princess Connect! Re after watching the above performance, he expressed his admiration for NPH Bilibili’s ‘playfulness’.

This is not Bilibili’s first use of giant QR codes to advertise games. The company placed a giant QR code on the side of its building to commemorate the launch of Princess Connect! Re.

As for Princess Connect! Re, This is a mobile game in the RPG genre with gacha elements, supporting iOS and Android operating systems. Developer Princess Connect! Re is Cygames, which has made its mark with famous games like “Fate / Grand Order.” Princess Connect was first released in Japan four years ago. This product launched in China in April 2020 and in the global market in January 2021.
